Like most parents Ollie and I are fanatics about all things health related. And, like most parents, sometimes we struggle to fit healthy eating and living into our daily routines – especially with two little ones! For this reason, we adore any tech that helps us and our family stay healthy while we’re on the go. So, why don’t we take a look at some of the gadgets and gear that we feel will make 2018 a better place?
An electric bike that can be folded up when you want to jump on a train? We’re in. That’s why we love the Brompton Electric bike, which lets you choose a level of assistance to suit your riding style. In other words, you can travel under full peddle power or let this clever little two-wheeler give you a hand when you need extra oomph. This is perfect for long journeys or the daily trip to work. And, of course, we still love ‘normal’ bikes that aren’t powered – but they just don’t feel the same once you’ve gone electric.
We’ve already reviewed one activity tracker, and we particularly enjoyed using it, which is why we think that this type of tech is going to get even bigger in 2018.
If you haven’t joined the revolution, our advice is that you shouldn’t be afraid. Activity tracking devices and apps aren’t just for sporty types but for average people who want to see how healthy their day-to-day lives are. Once you start using one we’re sure that you won’t want to stop.
A while ago we were sent a range of smoothies to taste test, and I must say that we were intrigued. Our conclusion was that they were tastier and much, much healthier than fizzy pop, and for this reason we can safely say that blenders and dedicated smoothie makers are kitchen essentials for 2018.
It’s not just healthy making your own smoothies, but great fun too. It’s also good to be able to control the ingredients that you put into each drink.
The key to a healthy life is to get out and about, which is why we love lightweight pushchairs. If you have a toddler this will make you more manoeuvrable in 2018 and perhaps open up new destinations that you can visit with your family. And just think much easier a lightweight pushchair will make going on holiday. From getting on a plane to strolling through a picturesque seaside town, just about every stage of travel will be simplified with a pushchair you can sling over your shoulder when needs be.
There are plenty of other items exciting us in the healthy tech world, but for now that’s our 2018 list. If anything stands out for you, let us know in the comments below. We love hearing about innovations – especially if they’re family related.
