Let’s face it, being a parent is hard. Whether you’re back at work or a full-time parent, there’s nothing harder than juggling the stresses and strains of everyday life and trying to be a good parent, keep your house tidy and clean, catch up with old friends and make sure everyone’s washing is clean and ironed ready for work on a Monday morning. With this in mind, I’ve put together a list of 3 ways to keep on top of everyday stresses to ensure you stay happy and healthy, because let’s be fair what could be more important than that?
Whilst this might sound stupid to some of you, remembering to take a little time out of your day for some me time is super important. Whether it’s a spa break or a glass of wine with the girls it’s important to remember to look after yourself. Even if you’re super busy, it doesn’t have to be long, just half an hour or so relaxing from your everyday tasks to relax and unwind. My favourite way to take a little everyday me time break is to run a hot bath, light a few candles, pop in a bath bomb and read a few pages of a book or magazine, try it next time you’re feeling a bit stressed out, it’s a guaranteed way to take the edge off.
Yoga is one of the most health beneficial forms of gentle exercise around. Not only does it improve your flexibility it’s also really good for the mind focusing on breathing patterns and decluttering the mind and body of everyday stresses. If you don’t have the money or time to enrol in a class it’s super easy to take up at home with a number of tutorials available on YouTube which you can follow. All you need to get started is a Yoga mat and some space in your room to be able to carry out the stretches.
It has been proven that nature has a calming effect on us as humans and its true, sometimes a walk around the park or heading to the woods for a stroll can do the trick and relive you of any stress or tension you might be holding on to. Whether you choose to take the dog for a walk or go for a stroll with the kids, getting out and about in the fresh air can instantly relax you and boost your mood, especially if you scope out a picturesque scenic spot where you can just take a few seconds away from the world.
By following these 3 top tips, hopefully you’ll be well on your way to ditching those everyday stresses and on track to a healthier and happier you.
