For those of you that are not already aware I am taking part in a challenge with AXA PPP healthcare to tackle aspects of my life that will make me healthier and happier one little thing at a time.
This weeks #52LittleThings – Give Yourself A Night Off Social Media is one my husband moans about ALL the time … and in fairness I really can’t fault him, Since becoming a blogger I have been attached to social media 24/7 however If I am honest the obsession was already in its fledgling stages before that with my Facebook usage.
I think this weeks challenge also goes hand in hand with last weeks of – Get Better Sleep too, I am terrible at switching off and leaving my laptop, iPad and iPhone. For some reason I think that the world will stop turning unless I am in the loop. I have been known to go to bed, turn on the iPad and carry on a conversation or 6 on twitter.
Although due to being a blogger, having an on-line presence is beneficial in earning money and building my profile I have no doubt being honest to myself, that one night would not kill me or my blog off in the slightest.
I think both this challenge and the ‘get more sleep’ one really work hand in hand and its about getting the work, home balance right.
That being said this week Ollie and I are having a cosy night in with some quality time a good film and we are going to both switch off and dedicate the evening to being just us with no third-party i.e. Facebook or Twitter!
In the longer term I am hoping that we can make it a regular thing that at least one night (although I would prefer 2) we can switch off the devices and just be a family or couple.
I have to be honest it really is far more me than it is Ollie, although whatsapp is fast becoming one of his favourites at the minute!
So this week The Oliver’s are going to have a much needed night off from social media ….. and will be putting in place at least one night a week were social media is not in the picture!
Do you ever switch off from social media?
