If you don’t already know I am taking part in weekly challenges with AXA PPP healthcare to make little changes one at a time to become healthier! and each week I will be sharing my journey with you guys.
This weeks #52LittleThings is to head to the supermarket on a full stomach!
Now this is one I have been already taking on board for about 9 months now.
Last year we sat and had a jolly good look at our out-goings and were shocked at how much we spent on food, how much soiled food we got rid of and also how much was highly processed .. with a large amount of our food ready meals we needed to make changes to not only cut costs but also to encourage a more balanced diet in general.
To start with I set aside a morning each week to go shopping (after breakfast) however with the buy one get one frees and a hubby/toddler we still seemed to be putting things into the trolley that were not needed and were mainly quick processed foods. So we needed to make further changes to support a healthier lifestyle and budget!
Now I do one big shop a month for all the bulky stuff, toilet rolls, cleaning items, pop, tins and such and buy it on-line and then every week we write a menu plan of the weeks meals and I then write my shopping list based on the meal plan and head to the supermarket (after breakfast) with the main objective to not deviate from the list.
Doing it this way for us has not only saved us approx £120 a month and not only does it mean we eat a more balanced diet and also saves my sanity and a shed load of cash too!
So do you meal plan and shop on a full stomach like me? or are you a wanderer that fills their trolley with stuff they don’t need on route round the supermarket?
