As some of your already know I am taking part in weekly challenges with AXA PPP healthcare to make small changes one week at a time to become healthier and happier!
This week its all about going to visit a place you have never visited before!
I have to say I was really excited about this challenge.
So why was I so excited?
Well its been a well documented fact on this blog that for the last year I have struggled with Ollie’s change of job, not the job in itself but its the unfixed work rota. Very often he doesn’t even have 2 days off together and he only gets a day at the weekend once in a while, making family time and outings hard work try and organise.
With that in mind over the last 6 months days off have been nothing more than a day attached to the sofa with some guilt chucked in for good measure .. I am not going to lie we have had a couple of days out .. pre planned and normally with a work focus for me but other than that, the get up and go, got up and went, being set this challenge has been good for us.
Not to be completely set in our ways we are trying new adventures for our holidays soon, next week as we are heading off to Butlins for the very first time! … I think it will certainly be very different from the menorcan holiday last year and the holiday in Corsica with Mark Warner but we are all rather excited now…
Also to make sure we took heed with this challenge Ollie and I decided to take advantage of his first Saturday off in while and we busted out the house to spend some time with the children as a family.
With a teen and a toddler to pacify, finding things that both children like can be hard but we had it covered this week.
Thaymar Ice Cream & Farm Shop!
We are really lucky here in Nottinghamshire to have some amazing places to visit, although of recent months, I think Ollie and I have forgotten this so it was lovely to get out and experience Thaymar as it had been somewhere we had been saying for over 2 years we wanted to visit!
With some luxury foods and some delicious icecream it was really fantastic to take time out of our the normal domesticated chores and fat pants to get some much needed fresh air, spend some time as a family and to even meet new friends too:
Although there was at least one sad face when we had to return the the norm and head off to do the shopping, but at least it has refreshed our minds to make more of an effort with our time off work together and hopefully we can keep making some nice memories for the children.
This was so needed for us all to reconnect and to take the pressure off .. Thank you AXA PPP healthcare for making me see the bigger picture!
Do you have some never been to places that you are determined to get to this year?
