As some of your already know I am taking part in weekly challenges with AXA PPP healthcare to make small changes one week at a time to become healthier and happier!
This week its time to take stock and start making time to take a few minutes each day to focus on my breathing.
In fairness this is a really fantastic one for me.
Over the last few months I have begun to feel stressed and overwhelmed with things at home, work and in life in general so this week while I have been away with my family I have made a concerted effort to take a little while each day to sit and breathe deeply, while sitting here!
So now the challenge is to find a spot and time each day I can continue doing this at home.
There are several benefits of focussing on your breathing each day and one of the really big ones is to help reduce stress! It is even thought to be able to reduce your blood pressure too!
Now something I have been meaning to look into and had not yet got round to doing was to find a local Yoga class. You maybe thinking what is this women on about now?
Well did you know that Yoga with its controlled breathing can de-stress and help you take regulated deep breathing? … along with all the other benefits such as building flexibility and strength! What with sitting at a computer all day too I have been known to shallow breath and even miss the odd breath or two too! … this really is something I NEED to do!
If you would like to focus more on your breathing you can find the information on how to practice focused breathing quite helpful … I did!
So is it just me that needs to focus on my breathing or do you need to too?
