Some of my posts in the past on mentioning my teen will give you a glimpse of how hard things have been.
For some reason my daughter is almost self-destructive, we have CAMHS appointments and have been through nearly 3 years of battles to find out what is making her tick and why she is so unhappy…. we have not yet got to the bottom of any of it and this also contributes to the lack of one on one … I have found it difficult to warrant one on one time with her when quite frankly she has been vile to be around.
Over recent months we have seen a glimmer of an improvement and as each day passes we pray that things will get better but with another bombshell from school on the day they broke up for half term .. I was deflated.
You see this half term I had so much I wanted to do with both kids and lots of one on one time planned for Beth and I.
This lead to a rethink…
In light of current *cough cough* issues shall we say, it would be unfair to have even considered all the original plans with her, as for me I like to reward the positives, no matter how small.
But there was a snag in that we had planned a shopping day to get her new clothes .. Beth had saved up all her Christmas and Birthday money so she could go on a mass clothes shopping expedition and since we had been planning it for a few weeks she had even cleared out her wardrobe ready.
So with the first weeks holidays going by with no back chat, attitude and general vileness I decided that we would indeed go on the girlie outing … all be it minus the lunch and the cinema trip.
After deciding on going shopping to Mansfield instead of Nottingham we headed off for my first surprise .. getting Beth’s ears pierced .. she had been asking for years but we had not got round to it and with town quite now was the time!
After much teddy cuddling and a rogue tear after working herself up to getting her ears pierced it was time for the clothes hunt …
I saw more of the changing room door than I think I did of my daughter but in the end she managed to get:
2 x Cardigans
3 x Pairs of leggings
15 x Pairs of pants
3 x Pairs of shorts
2 x Dresses
2 x Pairs of sunglasses
1 x Vest Top
2 x T-shirts
6 x Summer Tops
1 x Jumper
1 x Hoodie
3 x Pairs of jeans
10 x Pairs of socks
10 x Pairs of trainers socks
…. and very heavy bags!
Since shopping is not really my thing I am pleased to report I had a really lovely time and hope that we can have another one on one outing again soon …
Although next time it will be minus the shopping!
