A few days ago Ollie and I were invited to try out the new Super Lunch Deal at Jamie’s Italian in Nottingham and we were really excited as we had never visited before.
I am going to be honest and say we had never thought of visiting before as we had presumed that Jamie’s Italians prices would be astronomical and being on a budget we had just never considered it.
However we were thrilled to find out that Jamie’s Italian had a new Super Lunch Deal with a brand new menu and served in Nottingham Monday – Friday 12-6pm. Priced at £10.95 for two courses or a full three courses for just £12.95!
On arriving at the Nottingham venue we were really impressed with the venue with its beautifully decorated interior and surprisingly large outside space, ideal for soaking up the sunshine while we have it.
We got the choice when we arrived on if we would like to sit inside or out but with baby Jacob (3 months old) in tow we opted to sit inside.
There was plenty to choose from on main menu but we were really intrigued by the Super Lunch Deal, 3 course for £10.95 and £12.95 for 2 courses but my reservations were firstly was there enough choice? and secondly would the portion sizes be skimped on?
Right off the bat I can say the options on the menu were great with 4 very different starters on offer, 5 main dishes and 4 pudding there was a nice range on offer and after inquiring with the super helpful waitress we discovered we could choose the 2 course option and select either starter and main or main and pudding if we wanted so I opted for my starter and main from the Super Lunch deal and pudding from the main menu and Ollie (hubs) chose starter from the main menu and main and pudding from the Super Lunch deal!
The starter I chose from the Super Lunch Menu was the Fritto Misto, (which is crispy fried sustainable fish & squid tossed in fennel-spiced flour with garlic & lemon aioli) that was utterly delicious, it was perfectly cooked and I could have eaten that all day long, it was super tasty and not too heavy, even fried.
Ollie chose the Ultimate Garlic Bread from the normal main menu and it looked amazing and tasted delicious.
Both our main courses came from the Super Lunch menu with my choice being Gennaro’s Chicken Club which was a brioche roll filled with a chargrilled, marinated free-range chicken, pancetta, spicy ‘nduja mayo, fontal cheese, tomato & rocket and it was delicious, the roll was so super tasty in its own right.
It was very easy to spot the tomato and rocket were super fresh and crispy and the flavours combined with the chicken and brioche were tasty but not too overpowering like some can be.
Hubs opted for the Tagliatelle Bolognese which was described as a slow cooked Bolognese recipe served with herby breadcrumbs and fresh Parmesan, although Ollie asked for no parmesan which is exactly what he got.
My husband is a man of few words and what words he does chose to use, he uses wisely and after devouring his main meal he declared it to be “the best pasta dish he had ever eaten”
Pudding for me was selected off the normal menu and Ollie went for the strawberries and frozen yogurt from the Super Lunch menu and it not only looked very pretty it was really light and refreshing.
Mine on the other hand was divinely gooey and chocolatey as I had the Molten Chocolate Praline Pudding which was nicer than I had expected!
All in all the service from the staff at the venue was exceptional, even with a grumbly baby they never turned a hair of concern, even at us tag teaming our food, they were really knowledgeable about what was in the dishes and even tag teaming with Jacob the service was prompt but not rude meaning we were able to eat 3 whole course in about 1 hour 40 mins and that also included the extra time taken by us in actually deciding (we took an age) and the time swapping a fractious Jacob between us to eat, so this menu is certainly a contender for a deliciously tasty option for anyone with its reasonable price tag and multiple options.
We loved it so much we will certainly be returning as paying guests next time and will certainly be eating from Super Lunch menu again.
