*Features images of surgical wounds*
If you are a regular reader round here you know that back in February I underwent major abdominal surgery to repair my ripped and torn tummy muscles from belly button to section scar and to re sew up my torn internal section wound that burst open only a month after birth.
Living like that caused acute pain and so much damage that I was carrying around a massive hernia where my bowl and bladder had practically made their break for freedom.
Having surgery was my only option to have any quality of life and elevate the pain but open surgery is something not to be ever taken lightly.
After 1 emergency section, 2 planned sections and an operation on my Caesarean adhesions it would be fair to say that my days of bikini modelling were never going to be high on my list .. Although shifting the 5 stone on top would have been helpful. However my previous scars were large, unsightly and really distracting so with my biggest operation on the cards I was wary at how it look after.
After surgery I think I was fairly shocked to see how big in real life the wound was, even though I had been told it seemed so much bigger and with the staples it felt huge!
Nine weeks after surgery I had the pleasure being asked to review the Science of Skin’s Solution for Scars and after feeling rather down about my thick scar I was eager to try anything.
Science of Skin was founded by one of the UK’s leading cosmetic surgeons Mr Douglas McGeorge and along with Dr Ardeshir Bayat, who is an acclaimed academic skin biologist (with an international reputation in wound healing and skin scarring) they collaborated in taking cutting edge scientific research and adding in natural active ingredients to produce something aimed at improving the appearance of scars and reduce any discomfort.
The SOS solution for scars comes in a 30ml size pump and retails at £18.99 and although it looks like a fairly small container it certainly packs a punch as you really only need a very little bit each time you apply. (far less than pictured above!)
When applying I also massaged it in well as massage is said to be good for helping flatten scarring. So with the best of both worlds I was hoping it would make a difference .. In fact I prayed it would make a difference!
Well, I guess the proof is in the pictures so here are my before during and after:
Apologies for the image quality but taking a selfie of your belly is somewhat challenging.
I have been using the Science of Skin – Solution For Scars for 11 weeks now and I am totally thrilled. The scar is no longer raised and there are patches of the scar line itself that have disappeared and look the same colour as the rest of my tummy.
It is almost like it’s disappearing before my own eyes and if it continues down this path I will be left with a really nice neat white/silvery line which is more than I could have ever hoped for.
I can’t even explain just how thrilled I have been … Thank you Science of Skin for helping aid my physical and mental recovery!
