Now the summer has come and gone, the dark gloomy nights have set in and the weight is being more fiercely fought off from those evenings snuggled on the sofa with the chocolate.
So when it was recently announced that Mark Warner were looking for 5 bloggers and their families to become #MarkWarnerMums and Dad’s which has given me the opportunity to take some time out and reminisce about holidays past and what makes a holiday for us… or what doesn’t as the case maybe.
After some really radical lifestyle choices over the last couple of years that also brought about a massively much-needed weight loss of 4 stones for me. Ollie and I have been conscious that our children need to develop a really healthy attitude to being active and to eating well, when at home and away.
On the food front I’m never ever going to be on a par with the Jamie Oliver .. however this Jaime Oliver is now attempting to cook healthily and in the most part its working .. however there is still the odd culinary cock up…. but hey, no one is perfect are they? However holidaying somewhere that eliminates me having to cook is always a bonus!
Eating healthily has not been the only major change, our friend exercise has shown us .. or I should say mainly me the joy of sweating and feeling good.
With hockey now a firm fixture in my life and now also in Beth’s too along with the recent purchase of new bikes after hiring them earlier in the year there really has been no stopping us. We have tried all sorts of activities over the last 12 months, some to that stuck around and some we were just grateful to get through it with gritted teeth, but all in all we have had a blast.
Our holidays over recent years have been a mixed bag of carrots from the most appalling holiday we had ever been on to the most amazing holiday we ever encountered.
To top it off in 2011 we had the most unusual holiday ever, when we eloped with the children to marry in secret while on holiday! … We certainly live up to being a Madhouse!
So what do we really look for in a holiday? … probably the same as most families:
So with knowing what we like about holidays, I started to think about what we could offer Mark Warner:
And if all else fails, maybe I could offer cake in bribery … but since you and I both know I can’t cook, don’t worry I promise I wont, there still needs to be a judge left to choose the families!
