I am a massive massive fan of routines for children, but truth be told I am a fan of routine full stop … in fact I know on a personal level I thrive on it too. Knowing what is going to happen means I can plan and bedtimes for the kids is the same.
When Joshua was a tiny baby we introduced a little night-time melody maker and then when he got bigger we introduced a story CD after a proper story was read and it made the transition from daytime to bedtime all a little easier to take.
On the odd night Joshua went to Grandma and Grandad’s house for a sleep over the music went with him and I think it worked well so he knew at their house too it was bedtime.
A little while ago we were asked to try out the Aloka Baby Giraffe Sleepylight that is currently stocked at John Lewis for £39.95 and were really eager to look at formalising our currently loose bedtime routine with baby Jacob and so jumped at the chance to include it but were slightly worried that a light on its own with no music wouldn’t be as good.
When it arrived even not lit the little baby giraffe was super cute! with its etched detailing and its super safe clear body is made from some kind of acrylic/perspex type material so its super lightweight and easy to clean off little finger prints too!
The Aloka Sleepy Light is fitted with low heat LED’s that even come with the ability to colour change and to adjust the brightness with the dimmable option that comes on the remote!
Talking of the remote its super easy to function with the use of this remote with options on it of on/off, timer (turned off after an hour) and dimmer options … or why not make it a colour rainbow or pick your favourite colour and fix it at that instead!
We have loved road testing this wonderful night-light and use it every bed time now on the dimmed, timer rainbow selection and Jacob now looks for it every night on his last feed before sleep so we needn’t have worried at it just being a light with no music as it didn’t phase Jacob.
I think this little giraffe is a lovely addition to the routine and the option to switch it up and alter the colour and setting all via remote so no need to be seen while using it is only an added bonus.
If you were looking to purchase one, John Lewis currently have the Giraffe and Owl on sale HERE.
