It seems we have only been back at school a few weeks and there is another School holiday on the horizon and I am about to start planning!
For me the key to a fairly calm half term holiday is to plan, plan, plan .. and with 2 extremes of ages to cater for I prefer to plan in lots of outdoor time!
Living in the Midlands It would be nice to stretch our wings a little and head down south towards Portsmouth as I have some must visit places on my list.
One place I would love to take the kids in the holidays is the New Forest with acres of unspoilt landscapes and numerous conservations areas, along with the open forest and heathland.
I would love to blow the cobwebs away with some brisk walking or even taking our bikes for a real adventure (maybe even with a picnic!)
The Historic Dockland in Portsmouth is also on my want to visit list. My first and only visit here was my last year of Primary School to visit the Mary Rose and I have so many amazing memories of that trip that I would love to be able to take both Children to see it, especially now that the new museum is open and the Hull of this incredible ship has been reunited with its artefacts.
To top off our trip to the Historic Dockland I would LOVE to visit HMS Victory too! and the bonus about this is the fact you can actually go onboard as it is a living museum!
HMS Victory is the Navy’s most famous warship and most know for being involved in the Battle of Trafalgar and is utterly breathtaking to see, I have seen this as a child too but never had the chance to go onboard!
I am trying to justify it to even book into a Holiday Inn in Farnham and make the most of being down south! .. also it makes a fab base to squeeze in one last trip to Poultons Park (Peppa Pig World) for a visit with Peppa and George! … Although my teen may deny it, I have seen her watching with Joshua!
What will you be doing for the next half term? do you plan ahead?
