Young or old I think it would be fair to say that we just can’t help loving The Thunderbirds. The original Thunderbirds follows a family of highly trained responders: brothers John, Virgil, Scott, Alan and Gordon Tracy, as they venture around the world to save those in danger and this is still the same concept even now.
Kuato Studios and ITV Studios Global Entertainment have just released Thunderbirds Are Go: International Rescue, an official game based on the hugely popular television series that is encouraging a new younger generation of fans while paying homage to the original, ground-breaking original series from Gerry and Sylvia Anderson that first launched on screens in 1965
The game is available to download for free on the App Store and on Google Play worldwide and is aimed at children aged 6-11. Joshua (age 7) has been testing it out to see how he got on with it.
The game was easy to download and start using within minutes. The concept of the game is that you are one of The Thunderbirds characters answering distress calls and venturing out in one of the Thunderbird vehicles to carry out a tasks on a life saving mission.
Each mission has a new objective and I personally loved how each vehicle was slightly different to drive or move around the course to carry out the task it certainly made Joshua think about how to move around using the onscreen controls which were great for his fine motor skills and added with the problem solving tasks it has kept Joshua really entertained.
Personally I have loved how user friendly the game is, and I am totally blown away by the parent controls on the app that allows me to set the duration the can be played so if he only has 30 minutes screen time I can lock it down sone once times up then he has to wait for the next day.
The graphics were great and the language and wording on the app were easy to understand and I think Joshua appreciated that you had to press a forward arrow before each element of the mission started so he could refocus before playing on.
Overall it has been a great hit in our house and we are eager to see how it develops with more missions coming soon.
