There is nothing worse as a parent than seeing your child unwell and nothing worse than not knowing how to get them through it.
However the ‘cold’ has us all chasing our tails at times with the vast array of symptoms it can present with.
For some its just a runny nose and runny eyes, or maybe its all of those and a banging headache, or maybe even all of those and ear ache and sore throat it really is a mixed bag of carrots when it comes to dealing with the symptoms.
When I was little there were several ways my Mum got us through any unwell stages and that included Vicks VapoRub on our chest for colds, the sofa with the snuggly blanket and for lunch it was Heinz chicken soup!
I have to say the apple hasn’t really fallen far from the tree in terms of dealing with poorly children we have a very similar approach with our boys. Although for colds we tend to spend lots of time in warm bubbly baths as the steam can help unblock little noses and we love nothing more than then getting snuggle and warm with some Vicks VapoRub gently massaged into chests for good measure!
For me I tend to ban noisy and loud activities including the Nintendo! And plan for easier no pressure activities like reading and a comedy on TV.
So what do the experts recommend that we do with our kids when they are ill? Vicks shares with us the sickness cycle:
In light of the fact laughter can be an immune booster Vicks have created some #VicksTrick videos to keep little ones entertained and my favourite is the sliced banana trick that I am totally sure Joshua would love no matter what if he was sick or in full health!
So tell me what helps get your little ones through coughs and colds?
