As some of you know I tend to be a little reserved on the friend front, after many years trying to maintain some very destructive friendships. I have over time gradually weeded out the fine weather buggers and now I have a lovely small select group of friends that I know would do anything for me, as I would do anything for them, day or night at the drop of a hat.
What I really love about the group of friends that I have is the fact that when life gets in the way and time slips by there is no angst or animosity and we pick up where we left off.
Now 5 years ago Stacey arrived in my life as my Team Leader at work and since then we have remained close friends. We have seen each other through some really monumental moments in our lives, marriage’s (both) new jobs, new houses, broken limbs (Stacey) Hen parties, nights out, tears, tantrums and up until now the birth of Joshua.
However on the 29th October all that changed and I was able to celebrate for both Stacey and Simon on the birth of their long-awaited daughter Freya.
Last Monday I finally got to meet this precious little princess in real life and it was amazing, just to see this little bundle that has been so awaited for, smelling so beautiful so wriggly and finally seeing my friends become the family that they have so longed to be … to see them both become parents in front of my eyes… for me there really is nothing more perfect than witnessing the growth of my friends on this very personal parental journey.
I have no doubt that Stacey and Simon will be fantastic parents.
Don’t panic guys its quite normal to question yourselves, be irritable, snappy and shouty .. well I hope so since that is all I seem to of done this week … whatever you come across just remember ‘It wont last forever’ .. well that’s what my mum told me.
Oh and don’t forget projectile poo, sick and snot is all normal ….. but still not nice!
