Recently Millers Barn underwent a makeover including an updated menu with new dishes being added, so we were really looking forward to seeing what Millers Barn had to offer for our family dining experience.
The location of Millers Barn on the A610 makes it a really easy location for us even living on the other side of Nottingham as it’s a main through route! (if you are coming from the city centre you can turn right on the lights before the Beefeater, our SatNav made us go up to the next round about and come back on ourselves when there was no need!… sorry I digress but it maybe helpful) Also if you are looking for accommodation it is situated right next door to a Premier Inn.
Inside I have to say I love the feel of the place, its set out on several levels with many of the tables up or down only a few steps but it gives the impression of space and it also means there are areas that are more personal so it feels a lot more personal so ideal that we were also celebrating Beth’s 14th Birthday.
Since we arrive just before 5pm we got the choice of eating from the main menu or from the lunchtime menu which to be fair was quite extensive for a lunchtime/daytime menu and is served until 6.30pm!
However we decided in the spirit of birthdays we all had the full 3 courses from the Main Menu.
For starters, Joshua (age 4) ordered from the kids menu and had garlic bread and we ate from the main menu with Beth having Spicy Chicken Wings in bourbon BBQ and Ollie (Hubs) taking the Spicy Chicken wings with hot piri piri sauce …I went for the Loaded Potato Dippers with cheese, bacon & spring onion that was served with a cool sour cream & chive dip
All the starters went down well with my Husband who is a chick wing obsessive claiming they were the best he had ever tasted!
We had a 4 different meals on the cards for this one, Joshua again chose from the Children’s menu with a burger, fries and corn, Ollie chose a 10ozs Rump Steak, Beth went for a Pulled Pork Stack and I opted for the Double Bacon and Cheese Stack Burger.
I have to say the burger was AMAZING, so juicy and tender and the chunky slaw was delicious! .. skinny fries! .. I’m in love!
To finish off we had to have a pudding and again with 4 different ones it was great to with a Chocolate & Honeycomb Sundae, Jelly and Ice-cream (Kids menu), Rocky Road Sundae and a Lemon Posset!
Which were all so tasty .. I was particularly impressed with the Chocolate and Honeycomb Sundae with the sheer amount of honeycomb pieces.. There was certainly no scrimping on the one I had!
We would certainly go back to Millers Barn, although prices were fractionally higher than some of the standard chain eateries I would certainly say that marginal price increase was worth the extra for the quality and standard of the food and the beautiful venue, so much so I know already what I will order!
