Over the last few weeks even with a newborn baby in the mix I have been crying out for the first signs of spring … and no the daffs don’t count as most have been out since boxing day in my garden with this peculiar weather.
So recently when we were asked to head on over to Beefeater and check out their new spring menu I was excited, Although we have visited many times before and we all tend to have our favourites its nice to discover that a new season showcases some new faces on the menu front and I for one was looking forward to seeing just what was on offer.
Our local Beefeater in Nottingham, Millers Barn is always such a lovely place to visit with its multilevel areas and booths it has always made it feel more homely and private when we have visited as opposed to some other venues, so have visited regularly and not just on special occasions.
For starters there were a several new faces in the running with the Pork and Beef Kofta, Salt Beef Board and the Crispy Chicken Wings to name just a few and with Ollies obsession with chicken wings he was totally obsessed with trying these with the piri piri sauce.
I can officially report back that hubs was totally smitten with these and said the texture was fab but the sauce with them was amazing! … And I can say I was rather thrilled with my old favourite the potato skins and even more so as its all cooked from fresh and in a really reasonable time too!
For Joshua he chose his food from the Children’s menu and he took a while to choose as there was a really large range to pick from! Although in the end he had garlic bread to start followed by pasta, beans and skinny fries!
For mains Ollie had to go with his old faithful choice of rump steak as he is a total steak lover and loves the steak from Beefeater, however I went with a choice from the new spring menu and had the Chicken Escalope and I am so so glad I did, it was amazing! … the garlic coating and the crispy streaky bacon, melted Monterey Jack cheese and a fried egg was a total taste sensation and even Ollie wished he had chosen mine!
Although for me the other new option on the new spring menu is the surf and turf looked amazing so might have to pop back soon and try that!
The ultimate spring menu essential has to be the amazing Lemon Curd Sorbet! … Even Ollie thought this was the most amazing sorbet he had tried! However on the new menu if your more a fruit lover you could go for the new salted toffee apple crumble!
Being massive fans of the old menu overall we were thrilled to not only see some lovely additions to the menu but they tasted super too!
