I am not going to lie, writing a will is something we have put off for a long time … in fact the last 8 years we have promised ourselves we need to organise our affairs and make sure that we get our wishes down on paper.
However maybe it the formality of it, maybe it’s the fear of dying but either way both Ollie and I have been beyond procrastinating on the will writing front.
Although this year I decided not to make resolutions what we did decide to do was to be proactive in all elements of our lives. However if you have made some resolutions to be more organised and sort out a will I have a discount code coming up that is bound to help you start your new year right!
For us the fact we have very limited time together means that we have not prioritised making a will as with so many more fun things to do we have gone down the fun route instead. However with Farewill we can in fact do both.
Farewill by asking you a few questions online that take about 10-15 minutes to answer and once you have completed the questions it is then checked over by legal experts to make sure it’s all ok and if there are any issues they will let you know.
I filled in my questions yesterday and it really was super simple with the basics first like name, date of birth and things like spouse or partners name and then adding into it any children you have.
The next section was about the kids and making legal guardians for them in the event of my death and also setting out some executors for my will. Then there are sections to amend how you would like your estate dividing, any special gifts not financially covered in your estate along with providing a section that you can ask for specific requirements about your funeral arrangements or extra requests.
I found the whole thing super easy to do and far less stressful than I had imagined it to be.
The final thing I have to do with mine is have it witnessed by 2 people as I sign it and then put it in a safe place along with a list of any accounts or other details needed for my executors.
What I am grateful for is ease or use by Farewill for allowing me to cover all my requirements easily without having to make another appointment to have a will drawn up in a solicitor’s office.
I have finally decided too on my funeral requirements and it has been rather liberating knowing they are now written down and I no longer ever have to think about them – In true Jaime style I have even picked out songs I want playing and where! (Yes I really am that much of a control freak!)
Tomorrow we are starting on Ollie’s will as Farewill offer a discount for couples (£85 for both instead of £50 each usual fee) and with the option of paying £10 per year you can make as many changes as you like each year.
Fancy Getting Organised Too?
The folks at Farewill know that at this time of year many people are getting their cards in order for the coming year and so they have very kindly offered me a 30% discount code for you to use (for the next 6 months) just and to code below for your discount.
No matter how you get organised this year this is certainly worth considering if you havent already got your sorted.
