In April my little guy will be celebrating his 4th birthday and we kind of thought nothing more about it till Christmas when in his nursery bag we found an invite for his ‘best’ friend’s (lets call him ‘The Friend’) 4th birthday party.
I must admit I have begun to get a little panicked about Joshua’s and we have nothing set in stone yet so I was really looking forward to seeing what others do for 4th Birthdays since its been 10 years since I last hosted a party!
This Saturday was ‘The Friends’ birthday party at a local Methodist Church and on the walk up Joshua has never looked prouder as he carried his gift and refused to let anyone else hold it!
On arriving our local version of Mr Tumble was present and correct and after some 10 minutes trying to persuade Joshua that it was OK to join his friends there was no looking back .. although there was a slight incident with another child taking his balloon .. there were tears and snot.
He spent a fair amount of time loving the snow machine, or from beating the snow with a balloon .. which I think when your 3 equates to loving it .. right?
With bubbles, balloons, snow, Mr Tumble and a spread that included pizza, jam sandwiches, chocolate fingers and grapes my little guy could not have been happier … There was even that moment every Mum dreads when you go to help them reach the sandwiches and your child turns and says .. “you can go and sit down with Daddy now I can do it myself” it tore my heart into two, one half being sad my little guy is now becoming just that little bit independent but also so very proud that the he is!
Joshua had the most amazing time at his first official children’s party and I have no doubt there will be so many more coming soon .. but now I need to get to grips with Joshua’s and decided what we do for it … eek
