Regular readers will know that the super kind folks over at Coca Cola sponsored me to attend the event so my Blogfest started the night before when myself and some of the other lovely ladies being sponsored by the Coca-Cola team stayed in a local hotel and went out for some amazing cocktails … expensive … but still amazing!
The morning of Blogfest I headed off to breakfast meeting with the team from Coca Cola to hear more about what they had planned for the future and I have to say I am more and more impressed each time I hear something .. but that is another blog post in its own right.
So I headed to the venue for Blogfest with my Blogfest buddies Clare from Emmy’s Mummy & Harry’s Too who I have had the pleasure of meeting before! and also Jen from The Mum in The Mad House who I have never had the pleasure of meeting until now, and let me tell you these sidekicks of mine were fantastic …. I think the friends you make in this land of blogging really do make you see things so differently and for me the positivity they emanate helped me no end this weekend!
The event itself held a fair few highs, from some of the talks and getting the opportunity to meet some very talented people, but for me it kind of worked in its extremes with some .. super talented and knowledgeable folks to some boring and self opinionated people. But the world turns with all sorts and those all sorts make it turn .. so cheers to them all.
Hand on heart I personally felt disappointed …. not in the advice or the knowledge of the people running it. as my goodness knowledge was in abundance … but I felt that the table had been over subscribed leaving many too far out of the circle to hear and the general noise with being positioned right next to other tables did mean it was slightly chaotic to hear at times, which is a shame but since its the first time it had been run maybe next year they will take this on-board.
The food …. eep .. I have to be honest and say I hated it … not only was there nothing left by the time I got there, but at one point I had a single cheese scone, on spotting something being put out I did secure some cold cous cous and some form of luke warm vegetable mix both of which were not great. (sorry Mumsnet) However there seemed to be pastries on offer throughout the day .. so there was slight saving grace.
I think if Blogfest has taught me anything at all it is to be extraordinary .. just be you.
We are all very important in our own success and happiness.
Thank you to everyone that I chatted with at Blogfest and I cant wait to make new friendships, cement old ones and to try to become a little bit extraordinary in my own right .. starting in my own house, with my own family and learning to spend more time with them, just being us.
So the question is would I go again? …. you bet ya!
