Since my second son was born nearly a year a go my eldest Son has grown in so many ways.
I have watched Joshua grow from a nervous timid little creature to a fierce and protective big brother, who takes delight in helping Jacob in most activities! …. Although nappy changing is not one of them!
For me there is nothing nicer than seeing Joshua take hold of his little brothers hand to help him stand or to see him trying to make Jacob laugh when he is upset or frustrated. It’s equally wonderful to see Jacobs face light up at the end of the day school day and Joshua returns … he crawls so fast to the living room door on hearing his voice and squeals with delight.
With 5 years between the boys I did worry that the age gap may hinder a friendship between them but from the word go these two have become firm friends and I could not be any prouder!
I hope that in years to come this friendship and bond that I see before me only continues to grow with Joshua and Jacob. I want to know that regardless of time and life, that they will always fight each others corners and support each others decisions.
Both the boys are so very different in their personalities so far but I think this makes it even more special to see how they both connect and interact with each other.
This first year watching them grow as brothers has been a privilege and an honour and I cant wait to see what the next year has in store for these two.
One thing I do know for sure is next year these two are going to have me running in circles like some sort of mini human tag team… and I just can’t wait.
