Joshua first got his bike for his 4th birthday back in April and has loved it from day one, although only with stabilisers well attached.
He tears from one side of the garden to the other on a daily basis and have loved nothing more than the rides to the shops while Dad tried to catch up on foot.
However just recently he has been asking for us to take the stabilisers off and allow him to ride a ‘big boy bike’ and for the first few requests we kind of ignored it, but not sure why on the following request Ollie took Joshua and his bike to the shed and removed the stabilisers …. just to see.
My little fella firstly put on his helmet, and proceeded to tell his Daddy that it would take lots of practice and that he was probably going to fall off but not to worry as he knew he had to get back up and try again! … to say I was a little bit emotional at overhearing such a lovely moment with his Dad may be a slight understatement!
For the best part of an hour my little man tried, and tried some more.
There were tears and accidents and many smiles but he kept trying.
He still has not mastered the art of riding a bike but what he is mastering is the art of perseverance and I have no doubt he will have the bike riding cracked soon enough but for now I am super proud of how much he wanted this and how much he put into it.
