I have talked in the past about how technology can sometime hinder family life with so many hours spent in front a screen its easy to get carried away and miss real life.
This summer I have had my mind changed, which has surprised me.
On our holiday in Italy earlier this year my Mother in Law brought her tablet along to and used it for taking many of her holidays snaps. Along with keeping family back home updated on what we were doing while on holiday.
I have to say I watched in admiration at how having her tablet on hand gave her much more freedom than I had with my big camera with 2 lenses to lug about everywhere.
For our recent breakaway I did start to embrace what I had at my fingertips and made more use of my tablet downloading some films the kids would enjoy for those moments when it all goes pear-shaped and they start to unravel from tiredness. Lets face it most parents have experiences the holiday meltdowns unfortunately and it was good to be able to instigate a quiet time with a film.
In order to make the most of having social media at my fingertips and being able to take photos on the go. I have been following the advice from AO on how to take better photos using my Acer Iconia 10.1 tablet to capture what is left of the summer holidays with the kids so I can capture these fleeting moments that would normally go by undocumented.
With an hour before tea time this bank holiday Ollie used the time to get in some water play for the boys after he had been stuck at work all weekend.
Water, garden and playtime are the 3 things the boys just can’t help but get excited for so I used some of the techniques from AO and captured some photos in-between working on my tablet so for me this is multitasking at its best. Sunshine, playtime for the kids and not being stuck in my office missing out is as close to perfect as I can muster with my to do list a mile high.
If you have a tablet, do you take it out to take photos on it?
