When I was challenged via Boots last year to see if I could give up it was the motivation I needed to try to give up.
With the recent price hikes, smoking really was starting to feel like rolling up £10 notes and lighting them.
To cut a long story short …. the first 3-4 months were really hard, although nothing quite those first few weeks … horrific …
Tummy cramps, eating like a donkey, headaches, grouchiness and snarling were common on an hourly basis but as each day passed, even with the side effects of giving up smoking it made me all the more determined to keep going.
I am sat here on the run up to being smoke free for a year (although being very drunk and smoking your friends fags is ok right… it was only once) I am feeling really proud of myself, I feel really pleased I stuck it out and proved I could do it to everyone, but more than anything to myself!
Yes I have gained some weight and more money in my pocket but most of all I have gained hopefully lots of extra years to my life too.
After all the down days, tears, side effects and temper tantrums (me not the toddler) I am very pleased to say ……….
Happy SMOKE FREE birthday to me!
