After having Joshua we decided that making time for date time was really important at keeping us connected as a couple and as adults, we were finding that after having Joshua we were getting embroiled in the day-to-day stress and anxiousness that having a family can bring and we decided that we missed ‘us’
Last month we were hoping to get date night planned as it had been way too long since the last one … well with the sickness working its way though the household, hospital appointments and all the other stuff that seems to strike when you least expect it, we had not yet had that date!
So when we worked out on the calendar that Ollie would be off work last Tuesday while the teen was at school and the toddler at nursery we jumped at the chance to have a daytime date instead… and one that didn’t involve Ikea!!
We headed into Nottingham as soon as Joshua was at the nursery and found that the fantastic Christmas market was on … with its delicious aromas, tasty treats and beautiful craft items to buy its obvious why we love Christmas Markets, normally we miss them though so it was great to get to visit this year, without kicking ourselves that we missed it again!
After buying Ollie his well-loved fudge we headed to cinema to watch The Hunger Games, however being super early we actually got there and the theatre was empty so with the whole theatre to ourselves we spent time actually talking without interruptions, we discussed all sorts of things till those trailers started.
I had a really great day finally spending some time with my husband, holding hands and talking! it was just at we needed.
Here is hoping we get to do it again soon … although I fear it will now be the new year before we fit in another date and although it may not be a fully blown evening date … however for now I am just grateful for quality time when we get it!
