Some things from my childhood seem to allude my regular memory and every so often something triggers a Deja-vu moment that leaves me with a grin, non more so then when recently we were sent a kit from Philips to challenge our den building skills.
I had forgotten that I even built dens, but mid construction it all came tumbling back to me, the laughter when someone grabbed your foot or chased you back in … the time it took to build the thing, only for it to last 10 minutes before the excitement of it all meant that flailing foot made while escaping the den monster meant the whole thing is a heap on the floor sooner than anticipated.
With time getting away from me of recent months and my pledge to spend more quality time with my family, watching Joshua’s little face in his new home-made hut really was a beautiful sight.
He cuddled up with this blanket and soon mastered the tunnel at break neck speed .. and I did have to point out we were inside (boring Mummy)
Maybe in the spring we can have a real den and camp out in the garden? We can take out Joshua’s Philips Soft Pal that we reviewed earlier in the year and maybe even have a sausage sandwich for tea on the BBQ …. although if there is going to be more than one of us out there I think we need a bigger tent! … and maybe one with a solid roof?
For now though until the weather warms I am placing this den near the radiator and I may even sneak in another blanket or 2 for a den picnic and a nap … is it wrong I think that sounds heavenly?

Great den. Good to have an indoor den now the winter weather is setting in. Lots of fun hiding out inside and I’m sure it’ll encourage lots of imaginary play.
Ohhh such a cool idea. My kids built their own tents, a house and a castle-tent. It takes a bit more space form their room, but its so much fun: they visit each other and play house and that sort of stuff…great idea for rainy days.
