Having a baby is great, however having a baby with a cold and sniffles is not.
Babies only breathe through their noses and so having a baby full of snot can effect not only their sleep but their eating too, so trying to find ways of helping elevate the symptoms is a really important task for any parent this winter season.
We initially struggled finding things that worked for Jacob as babies are harder to deal with when under the weather as they can’t tell you whats wrong.
So how do I keep the symptoms at bay with my little guy now?
1. I keep the house a few degrees cooler, it helps to keep the coughing at bay and stops overheating. I also find layering his clothes helps massively to help regulate his temperature.
2. Plenty of fluids, when he was really little he preferred milk but now he is 9 months he prefers cool boiled water.
3. Thankfully he is over 3 months old we have discovered and been able to use Olbas for Children which is a gentle, yet effective decongestant made with essential pure plant oils, such as eucalyptus, mint, clove, juniper berry and cajuput which when used on a handkerchief out of arms reach can be super helpful.
4, A couple of drops of Olbas for Children on a tissue on a radiator also works exceptionally well at getting the vapours in the air quickly.
5. To raise our babies head up, we used a super product called a Cosymat from Babymoov that works like a wedge and lifts up Jacobs head so he didn’t choke on his own snot but we still used the Olbas for Children along with it.
I am sure we have plenty more colds and sniffles heading our way over the coming months as the cold weather kicks in but this year I am prepared for it with my Olbas for children and my minion tissues!
Heres hoping you and yours avoid as many colds and sniffles this year … and if you’re not lucky enough to escape them I am sending virtual hugs and cake and I hope it passes soon!
