Around 18 months ago I made the journey into London for the first time as an adult and only the second time in my life … although being only 10 and being dragged round the capital with 30 of my classmates and the stressed out teaching staff was not really conducive to developing an understanding of what it had to offer, In fact it has only planted that seed of apprehension further into my head as I grew!
So after having my first adult visit to the capital for Britmums Live last year and the epic incident with a broken suitcase … too much underground to get through in a short space of time and the fear of my pants trailing behind in my wake was still not enough to put me off trying to reeducate my tastes with what London has to offer.
I am far more organised when I travel now and even pre select my seats on the train … it really does help to calm my nerves.
In order to be more in control of myself when I am feeling somewhat anxious I try to find out as much about the area I am traveling to and that includes what venues there are and what events are on nearby.
As mad as it sounds lots of venues in the Capital are multifunctional unless you travel past everyday, you would miss lots of fantastic events and the like.
I was made particularly more aware of this when I attended the recent Amazon Event in what looked like a coffee shop, but as it turned out the coffee shop was so much more than just that as it transformed into a bar at night and held private events!
With more blogging events coming up and a trip with my husband to plan for I have been doing my homework and I have being looking at hotels around where I need to be, so I don’t have to do the late night train. While looking at local hotels it seems that the Holiday Inn in Kensington does more than the basic hotel, they have regular Caribbean Evenings! … see I told you that taking some time to research means you find things that you might have missed!
With this knowledge I am now planning my first trip to London with Ollie (my husband) later in the year and I maybe able to find us a fab place to stay that has more than most to offer!
Wish me luck
