As Jacob is fast approaching 2 years old we have been looking at things that will help his fine motor skills and with his bother being obsessed with LEGO we wanted to look at something similar for Jacob so LEGO DUPLO had to be on the card this Christmas.
However we got an amazing surprise gift from our friends at LEGO recently that the whole family have loved, a box of LEGO DUPLO!
This weekend just gone all four of us finally had some time together to play as a family and so we broke open the box and introduced Jacob to the joy of building.
At first Jacob thought the DUPLO all just a phone.
However we have been building race tracks, board games, and have had a game of family bowling which Joshua won!
It has been a long time since we have laughed as much as we did with the DUPLO this weekend.
What it did remind me was how versatile LEGO and LEGO DUPLO is and it’s all about imagination.
Although DUPLO is aimed for 2-5 year olds and Joshua is month away from being 2 and Joshua is 6 both boys have loved having some toys in the living room that they have been able to play with together. Joshua took on his super creating serious side and built factories and houses. Jacob just enjoyed playing with the cars and the animals and watching Joshua build, although his destruction method is second to non on his brothers creations!
We have several sets of DUPLO coming in from the North Pole and I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning.
I think that the joy of building and creating with LEGO DUPLO has only just begun for Jacob and I can’t wait to see his love grow like it did with Joshua.
What have your littles created with LEGO or LEGO DUPLO?
Disclaimer: Although we were sent a gift from LEGO I was under no obligation to write about the gifts, however for me marking the start of this creative journey was a must.
