Through the Summer I will admit that planning in kid friendly activities is something I tend to struggle with, I am not very creative and often just rely on my little guy just getting on with playing.
As for playdates I am rubbish and don’t really remember to organise any!
However this week I asked Ellie from The Mummy Diary if she fancied a picnic and maybe even some fancy dress for the kids and thankfully she was free and Joshua finally got some proper dedicated time with two wonderful children as his partners in dressing up crime!
I don’t know what it is about fancy dress that makes things a little more magical, but with some new fancy dress costumes from Asda all round these 3 lovelies looked amazing and loved dressing up so much they spent the whole day in them and Joshua has spent several days dressed up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle since!
Adding in bubbles, party food and some fresh air and the smiles were plain to see from all of them and even after a bee sting Tinkerbell was super brave (more than I would have been) and she still had lots of fun!
Friendships are one of life’s essentials and good friendships are all the more precious … so come rain or shine, dressing up or not, we really must make more of meeting up and I need to be more proactive about it and stop being a lazy Mummy!
There really is nothing more precious than hearing a child’s laughter and seeing those smiles here is hoping that we have many more days like this one .
