For the last year there have been some jobs in the garden I have just been avoiding and so this spring I had planned to get them done in the Easter holidays … until my operation date was brought forward in the form of a cancellation appointment last Friday.
With my list of jobs reeling in my head that I wanted to get done before the operation and my anxiety over the possibilities of dying on the operation table (yes I am being rather dramatic) I had fixated on getting the garden tidy .. after all if I did not in fact die then I would have to keep looking at it a good few more weeks before I would get the chance to tackle it properly.
I didn’t really expect her to do anything without the lip and the mutterings but from 9.10 am on that Sunday morning she worked her blooming socks off … between us we got all but 2 panels painted of the garden fence at the back, the jet washing of the patio, back garden path and the paths round the side, front and even the driveway, We weeded all the tubs and even fitted in a picnic lunch on the grass.
My teen well and truly worked her socks off.
In the past groundings have been mainly based in her bedroom and the removal of electronics … In future I think I should be looking at getting her to help more round the house and looking at the sterling effort on Sunday I should be giving her more jobs to do when she is grounded too.
Although she was grounded, she really pulled it back with all her hard work and I am not sure I could have done it without her!
Roll on Easter .. we are now ready for some Easter Egg hunts!
