January marked the start of AXA PPP healthcare’s #52LittleThings challenge. Where getting fit and healthy doesn’t have to mean adopting a fad diet or running a marathon; they believe little things can add up to make a big difference and both you and I know this sounds like right up my Street!!
Now being on my weight loss journey and losing the 4.5 stones only to then gain 2 stones back while stopping smoking I am looking at making little changes throughout the year to make a healthier lifestyle something we can all do as a family and stick too.
If you’re heading to the January sales, leave the car at home and walk to your nearest shopping centre or get off the bus a few stops earlier – Now for me Week 1 was a little tricky, most of you know that I’m in fact an avid internet shopper but having completed my sales shopping on Christmas Day night on my laptop it did leave me time to squeeze in some outings!
So although I was not tackling the shops in person I did have far more time to squeeze in a walk or 2 and even a bike ride.
Aim to drink 8-10 glasses of the wet stuff everyday – Now week 2 is one that I continually fail on and it’s on my list to get my head round this one in a big way! I practically drink no water at all unless at the gym or playing hockey as I dislike tea and coffee.
So I have taken drastic step since January and I now have set a reminder 4 times through the day on my phone!
Swapping the usual whole milk for seimi-skimmed is a simple way to make your morning coffee healthier – With a toddler needing full fat milk we are now buying full fat and semi skimmed although this has been an easier change as neither Ollie nor I drink hot drinks so the change really only effected the breakfast times …
Each day, reflect on something you have achieve, no matter how small – I absolutely adore this one, I am a continually berating myself for things that I often don’t see what I have achieved. For example I have given myself a hard time over putting on weight after giving up smoking .. I really ought to be patting myself on the back about the quitting smoking and then tackling the weight loss after!
Do you do this…… I am sure I am not the only one?
Choose snacks wisely – I have this one well and truly covered …… I have found a new found love for pumpkin seeds!!
Also with trying to loose weight I have found for me setting out my food for the day including snacks stops me from making the wrong choices!
Do you have any health snack alternatives you love?
Talk it out – If you feel low, worried, anxious or upset – I have been know to over eat while feeling anxious and then found it made me feel worse.
This year I have aimed to take time out to spend quality time with my husband to enable us to talk and communicate that normal everyday life sometimes hinders.
So now I have updated you, I am looking forward to seeing what week #7 of AXA PPP healthcare’s #52LittleThings challenge will be as I am going to be taking part in the challenge each week from here on in!
Do you have anything you have changed in your life for the better? or what about these changes, could you of done it?
