I wrote a while back about the exciting and yet stressful part of making space for a new baby and to be fair with less than a month to go till baby arrives I can finally say its been a bit of an epic battle.
Our nursery had over the last 3 years of it being unoccupied become the unintentional dumping ground of anything and everything that had no home.
Over the last few months getting the nursery finished and organised has been a priority so having previously had a pushchair obsession I have been giving away, selling and donating all but 2 of our current hoard of pushchairs in favour of being able to baby shop for all the things needed for our new arrival.
What I can actually say without a shadow of a doubt is that I had forgotten in the last 5 years at just how much stuff they need and the range of products available from basic beds for newborns through to deluxe cots that come in just about every colour under the sun if totally far nicer these days!
With my daughter 15 years ago the majority of nursery items were secondhand and with Joshua 5 years ago there has been a fair mix of new and secondhand products, but for some reason we did keep a large percentage of Joshua’s baby items ‘just in case’ which we are super grateful for now.
Since sorting out the nursery I have been on new missions to sort out the rest of the house ready for all the other stuff needed, cradle seats, car seat and nappies! Although I have to admit I have been stock piling nappies in the bottom of the wardrobe when I have seen them on offer!
Not even the kitchen has been left untouched, having gone though a really productive nesting period a while ago and redecorating the whole house in 6 months I have tackled cupboards and shelving and last on my list is to get finally get my paperwork sorted so I can throw out years worth of random paperwork that has been hiding in the drawers like it was needed when in fact its rubbish!
Now we are less than a month away from my caesarean section date I am now making lists for all the last-minute things we need to buy that passed me by in the first round of sourcing and buying after I wrote my initial newborn essentials post.
Although so far I only have 2 more things to get and can’t think of anything that is massively important as it’s these 2 are more like luxury items so we don’t need them before baby arrives.
What did you do to get organised for baby?
