The efforts did not stop there as bloggers from across the length and breadth of the country pulled together to create all sorts of raising money schemes from Climbing Snowdon, cake sales, bike rides and even tattoos! While the social media support escalated to epic proportions. through the world of social media Team Honk rocked its worthy cause.
So needless to say when Team Honk announced this year they were supporting Sports Relief’s fundraising efforts the blogging community came into their own yet again:
The Master plan is a bloggers relay from Lands End to John O’Groats …. yep you read it right – bloggers across the country are coming together to: run, cycle, roller blade, buggy push, scoot, fly and even travel by raft to move that baton!
Yesterday the lovely Pippa from Story of Mum started this epic challenge and got the honk baton moving:
Where do I fit into this?
Being a Nottingham based blogger I would of course been part of their team however the lovely fair maidens Donna from DonnaNavarro, Amanda from The Ana Mum Diary , Jen from Love Chic Loving, Louise from My Gorgeous Boys and Emily from A Mummy Too and their band of Merry Men (or should I say Merry Folk) have got this leg completely covered and so I am hopping over to the Derby leg to help out with the another fair Maiden Penny from the A Residence … After all who can turn down a trip to Chatsworth House and Rother Valley Country Park? … although I have to say my visits would preferably be with a picnic blanket and cake… but hell this is sports relief!
On Thursday 27th February I will be putting my best foot forward for Team Derby as Penny and I will be starting our 20 mile journey on foot to meet the lovely Leyla from This Day I love will then take it on a journey over to Spencer from A Dad Called Spen and so on and so on .. you get the gist right?
So there you have it ……… I Jaime Oliver will be making my way from Chatsworth House to Rother Valley Country Park …. which is 20 miles away!
Even though I have been upping my exercise recently in order to help my weight loss and become healthier, this particular mission is by far my biggest challenge to date and If I’m honest I am feeling slightly anxious at the prospect, but also positive that I can do this by pushing myself out my comfort zone!
This is where you guys reading this come in …. I am putting my large lazy butt on the line and I have no doubt there will be blood sweat and tears along the way (from me not Penny) so I would love for you to sponsor me with your hard-earned cash and take delight in the fact you’re helping a worthy cause but also helping me gain my confidence back while on my long-term weight loss and health journey.
If you would like to take part in some organised Sports relief events all is not lost as the first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March and everyone can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country.
