My prime objective to getting fit and loosing some weight was to eventually learn to become a runner. I’m not talking about marathons or sprinting but I would love to run over a longish distance for fitness and fun.
While playing hockey 4 years ago I learnt to sprint in matches but only in short bursts and now with the added weight and more surgeries under my belt I was really aiming for the stars with this one.
Oh and did I mention just how board I get?
After purchasing and downloading it was time to take my first adventure and it was super easy. I authorised my music to be played in the app and popped my headphones in and listened while I hopped onto the treadmill.
I have always been a fan of audiobooks and I guess this is taking it to the next level but its genius.
Effectively you are a runner on the way to a surveyors outpost and on route you are given missions while on the way. Like going to a certain place or collecting a certain supply while passing but each mission (there are 200) will help ensure your survival from the zombies.
During each session of the story you will be expected to walk or run throughout but when Zombies approach or if you find yourself in a stick situation you will have to pick up the pace so walk fast if you’re walking or run faster if you are already running.
I have loved listening and taking part. So much so I am still going on my missions and although I am no master runner I am for the first time in a long time enjoying running while building up my stamina and speed by doing it on a more interval based regime and one I don’t have to keep track of or time and one that does it all for me, except run of course.
Although I am a long way of being fit yet I am actively wanting to go to the gym for the next mission.
So watch this space … maybe I will be good at this.
