Sunday mornings we were creatures of habit really, a trip to the park, a walk out somewhere but always some family quality time followed by the afternoon in comfy pants watching the most boring films or if we were lucky finding a good one .. those times were few and far between.
However Ollie (hubby) has recently changed jobs which is a great thing after working with the same Company for ten years Monday to Friday he felt he needed to challenge himself and move to where the career opportunities were more plentiful.
The downside to this is the routine is gone, he no longer works Monday to Friday and now has 2 days off a week but these tend to be in the week and almost always these days are not together.
Now this in itself is not the problem, the problem lies in the fact as some of you will know I am anally retentive and I am an organised control freak. In the old routine I knew where I was but 3 weeks into this lifestyle change I am a struggling. I am missing our Sunday mornings and I am becoming frequently confused as to what day it is…. this is in itself is driving this organised control freak nuts!
On Ollie’s recent days off we have tried to make a point to trying to pick up our normal Sunday morning activities but this doesn’t always work with Beth being at school. The other bonus to Ollie’s new job is the fact he is at home from 2.30pm everyday so we are trying to fit time in as a family then too. It’s still not gelling, or maybe I need to be less of a control freak and learn to go with the flow a little more?!
Until I get myself into more of a routine and I have cut my stressy ties it looks like I am going to have to have more Sunday mornings like these:
Clinging onto the bed by my toenails in the hopes that the toddler can’t find a way to muster any more strength while having a sneaky snooze with his Mummy to actually force me out of last inch of bed I am hanging onto for dear life.
It certainly ain’t easy when it ain’t Sunday Morning any more in this house!
Sounds like a huge adjustment, and with you going to college, too. I can understand how unsettling it would be, but I’m sure you’ll be into a new routine soon – it’ll just take a little time x
thanks honey, i am hoping so as i am struggling a lot at the moment x
You’ll get into a new routine soon enough. I love Sunday mornings as it’s the only day off my other half gets…til he has to go into work for his nightshift that night! x
wow what a nightmare you get so little time with him honey x 🙁
I demand coffee in bed every Sunday morning. It’s the law, right? Unfortunately I usually get the gift of dog – two Border Terriers leaping on to my face in excitement. Cheers, hubby.
lol now i bet thats a sight having them jumping around you! lol x
Adjustments are never easy but I’m sure you’ll get to enjoy the adventure soon enough, give yourself time 🙂
thanks Lisa xx
I find it really hard to change routine. Now that my son has started school and I am back at university we are having to find yet another routine which fits around us! I am sure you will settle into yours soon.
I am so glad its not just me that struggles with routine changes x
Oh I understand, I’d be completely at sixes and sevens. Good luck finding the routine in there and good luck hanging onto the edge of your bed!
phew i am so pleased its not just me! xx
It’s a huge adjustment, but things will get easier. Hugs x
thanks honey i know its a silly thing to moan about in the mind of this control freak its drove me nuts lol
I’m not sure I could handle that either, I like my routine and having it change all the time would drive me nuts too, good luck with the adjustments.
thank goodness i am not alone on this! x
anks Sarah, he sure is home at 2.30pm but he is up at 4am instead 🙁 xx
oh no! I love a lazy lie in on a Sunday.
I have teenagers and I dont think they would get up on a Sunday even if the house was on fire!
lol i am so so not used to lie ins .. i do miss them lol x
Why don’t toddlers like lazy Sunday mornings!?!
it should be the law!!
Aww I hope you get used to the new routine soon. You clingibg to the bed by your toe nails made me laugh and reminds me very much of my nights with with my toddler 🙂
lol i fear cutting my nails as they are the only thing between me and the floor 🙂
