It goes without saying that this last month for Jacob has been a massive one in terms of development.
He has started weaning, is far more vocal, he is rolling over and to top it off he was sleeping through the night.
However after a very chesty cough it seems me being next to him coughing was not going to be conducive to sleep for either of us.
The Big Change
So after returning home from Britmums Live recently I made the choice to take a massive parenting step and pop him in his Moses basket into his own room so my coughing stopped waking him.
It would be fair to say I missed him chronically, I missed his little snuffles and his leg flapping and even his little trumps in the early hours of the morning, none of those things were the same listening to them from a baby monitor.
For the first few days he remained sleeping In his moses basket but inside the cot.
I maintained the same bedtime routine too to ensure he still feel secure with the changes.
After a few days when the sheets in the mouse basket needed changing I popped him directly in the cot but kept his sleeping bag the same so the smell would be the same and it seems to have worked a treat.
Jacob has now been sleeping in his cot for nearly 2 weeks and has totally loved his new space.
He is sleeping solidly again and in the morning I am greeted with the most beautiful smiles … although in fairness the best smiles he saves for his Brother when he comes with me to collect him.
Sleep is so vital for us all to function and with him now sleeping so solidly for around 11 hours a night I am sleeping better too.
I still even now miss my little bedtime sidekick but know that I made the right choice to give him some extra space and pop him into his cot.
Time really does need to slow down, all these milestone and moments are happening too quickly!

Oh he is so gorgeous. Those morning smiles are the best. The pic of the Moses basket in the cot reminded me of my daughter. We had a crib in our room but when she was first born she preferred the basket so we used to pop it inside the crib 🙂

Why oh Why didn’t I think of putting the moses basket inside the cot when I was transferring my daughter over to her cot!!! Seems such a logical and simple idea!!!! You are so incredibly lucky that he is sleeping so well. I’m a little bit envious as my daughter didn’t sleep properly until she finished teething. He has the most adorable smile – you must be so incredibly proud of your gorgeous little man!!!
