This time of the year our social media feeds are awash with our online friends sharing the magic of Christmas from nativity plays to securing the Christmas must have gifts for their little ones.
But sometimes sharing these things leaves us vulnerable. Before we know it hundreds of people across the internet have seen things that perhaps we wouldn’t ordinarily share in public. After all we wouldn’t put our gifts in the windows for passersby to see.
We have to be realistic with our children and help them to understand that not everyone is perhaps as honest or trustworthy as we are ourselves and we have to take care of our things.
Simple things like teaching them to put their own possession away and out of sight while out and about or not lending their things to strangers can be great ways to start.
However ADT this festive period are hoping to highlight security in a more fun and engaging way … think of Home Alone the film and you have the #PresentPatrol without Macaulay Culkin.
ADT have sent us a box of essentials needed for any hardcore present patroller and have provided us with the master plan template for Joshua to get creative himself! (if you want the present patrol template you can download it HERE)
Firstly there was the master planning, obviously Joshua did some amazing planning with a water balloon drop on the patio doors on the living room, the marble mountain on the stairs. All ideas ADT provided us with … However Joshua then went off ad came up with some super ideas!
OK, so for the kitchen there is the juicy jam rollers … now according to Joshua we need to think big … not just a bit of jam smearing, he is talking about full on Jam deluge. With the help of rollers were are going to smear every kitchen surface, every cupboard, walls and doors so any intruders will get stuck like fly paper for humans! – I don’t even what to think about the clean up process!
Next we have the staple sprinkle … in lieu of the fact we have no drawing pin he adapted his plan to use staples. With a sprinkling round the tree it makes more difficult for a gift grabber which is only a bonus in our book.
Joshua has decided that all real presents will also be removed from under the tree and they will be hidden in the office … although not before adding in creepy spiders into pretend gifts to give the pilfering people a bit of a fright.
Obviously the real presents will need protecting in the office so for this job Joshua has decided to cling film the door to catch the stealing sucker in a plastic wrap so they are ready packaged for the police … I like his idea of a the easy clean up of those pesky pinching punks!
I have to say we have had some fun thinking about protecting our precious presents this festive period but what this fun little exercise did do was get Joshua thinking about what it takes to keep our things safe.
If you would like to get your littles thinking about how to keep their things safe then why not download the floor plan template from above and get some further inspiration from ADT #PresentPatrol blog post HERE.
Thanks ADT for helping Joshua and I have some fun this festive period… although I think you owe me copious amounts of jam and cling film!
