When you have a baby, everyone sees fit to advise on what you need to do with baby, every second of the day.
Granted that for the majority that advice is offered with love from our nearest and dearest, from the bestie and the cousin and even the last behind the counter at the corner shop.
As nice as it is all this advice can be immensely overwhelming and ultimately confusing.
Over the last nearly 16 years of parenting my own children I have become increasingly aware that not all advice is helpful and maintaining a new baby, family, relationships and sanity is a really hard job. So have taken to using products that work without stress and without hassle especially for Jacob this time round.
Over the last 6 months I have been thrilled to be part of the Huggies Wipes ambassadors and as the last few days of this role come to an end I have been taking in just how far I have come in my own role and also at just how far Jacob has come.
This ambassador role has taught me so much more about bonding than I knew before.
With the help of the wonderful Natalie Lee (midwife) and Gayle Berry (baby bonding expert) that have been on the Huggies team I have developed and loved realising that bonding doesn’t have to have a set time frame.
Baby massage can be used at nappy changes to sneak in a 5-10 slot with Jacob without feeling under pressure to make a set time in the day or even week to do it meaning I have been far more relaxed with Jacob than I was with either of my other two children when they were little.
I think parenting wise I am a far calmer Mummy this time round, I no longer seem to sweat the small stuff and instead go with the flow far more. I choose products that fit with our family and not just follow what others ‘think’ you ought to buy and so even though Jacob is no longer a ‘newborn’ we have carried on using the new Huggies Newborn wipes. They have worked for us and being 99% water and with the natural fibres being soft on his skin, clinically tested wipes are something we have not had to stress over.
However Ollie has taken over stressing for me, or stressing at me for my love of pushchairs instead ..
Thank you for having us this year Huggies Wipes and for sharing our journey with Jacob these last 6 months, when I look at just how far he has come in that time and how far I have come I can’t quite believe it!
I will be taking on the Huggies tips going forward as while ever Jacob enjoys it then I will too … here’s to parenting going forward.
