The Leicester Marriott Hotel is only mere minutes from junction 21 and yet with plenty on its doorstep from eateries, shopping and even a cinema within a few miles drive on the main road heading into town it certainly makes for a great base for traveling in the area.
It has a large car park with barriers on the entrance and exit and the total jewel in its crown is its newest adaptation located in the car park! … Nope I have not lost my marbles (well not yet anyway) What we were thrilled with as will any other green minded folk is the newly installed Car Charging points!
For many including ourselves the thought of investing in a new vehicle that will reduce our carbon foot print, reduce running cost and save a fortune on fuel each year is high on our wish list and so while we look at our current options to go green on the travel front its fantastic to find that more and more companies are embracing the green aspect and installing these fantastically economical charing points!
The charging station at the Leicester Marriott can be found to the far left of the building as you drive through the entrance barrier, just turn left at the end of the building and you will see them there.
You will need the key in order to charge, but the staff on reception are super knowledgeable and are more than happy to explain more if you are an electric car virgin as we were when we visited!
During our visit we stayed the night and tested out all the services on offer and both Ollie (hubs) and I were smitten all the more, the room was more than adequate with solid wood furniture (no cheap flat pack here) with working fridge and all the basics you would expect for a good nights sleep such as an amazingly comfy bed and lovely quality sheets. However what I totally loved about this hotel was the thought that had been put into the rooms with ironing board, iron, hairdryer, iPod docking/charging station, Nespresso machines and a full complement of drink options (Hubs was super impressed that there was hot chocolate)
Both restaurants are located near the main entrance, the Atrium Lounge is right in the beautiful foyer and serves light snacks and food all day and the Mixx Restaurant is located just off the foyer on the left where you can enjoy informal dining based around Mediterranean and Asian cuisines with super helpful staff.
We had the pleasure of eating out evening meal and our breakfast at the Leicester Marriott and both hubs and I was thrilled to bits with every mouthful, from the deliciously tasty curry he ate to my fish and chips our evening meal totally hit the spot and the casual dress code and efficient staff made it a really pleasurable experience.
The immensely well cooked breakfast on offer was fantastic and the continental pastries, cheeses and meats just complimented the offerings! … For me I love a good poached egg and it’s the first place in a long while that had cooked one perfectly!
Overall we totally loved our stay and the hotel really did have everything we could want on offer, the inclusion of the electric charge point really tops it off for us as we are currently looking at perhaps going down this route for our next car so this would really cover all our bases… so much so even with or without the electric car we are considering taking a few days to have a mini babymoon there … great food, great atmosphere, great nights sleep and great staff it has it all covered for us.
