Early this year I made a Summer Bucket List and on it were several things that not only had Joshua never had a go at, neither had I and one of those things was flying a kite.
I suppose it sounds rather odd that I have never to my knowledge flown a kite but I guess it’s not one of those things that is an everyday occurrence so it had never come up really before now.
When we travelled to Tunisia in June this year we were sat at the edge of the sea when a beach seller walked by and tried to sell us a kite and in that split second both Ollie and I said yes, obviously great minds think alike on this instance as with the gorgeous sunshine and some lovely blowing breeze coming off the sea it was really fantastic kite flying weather or so we thought as we had not shown one before (turns out we were right!)
Joshua initially was not so enthusiastic in fact it almost bordered on panic when he took control, I think he thought it would blow away and it took a while for him to realise that while ever he held it then it wasn’t going anywhere! …. What he did love however was when Daddy took over and was flying it for him! (Mummy wasn’t very good)
As Joshua has got bigger the firsts have really dwindled to few and far between so it was lovely to experience something for the first time with him …. We may not be the best kite flyers … but we do have our kite and now we are waiting for some perfect kite flying weather so we can have another go at the wonder that is flying a kite!
…….. Although we may have to take it into a field … We have way to many trees!
