Five months ago Joshua had been asking for his bike stabilisers to be removed and then with his continued requests Ollie agreed and removed them for him just to see …
The first few attempts after removing the stabilisers were interesting … he had by no means cracked it but even after hitting the deck on more than one occasion he was positive he would have it cracked soon.
As the weather got worse and Christmas approached bike riding kind of went out the window and then being heavily pregnant it wasn’t top of the agenda to be picking him up off the wet floor so we shelved the bike riding for a while.
However while Ollie has been off work for the last 4 weeks with his paternity and annual leave he decided to get Joshua out in the fresh air during the half term and dug out his bike from the shed.
The initial plan was to take him on the road in front of our house which is a dead end and so doesn’t have any traffic on it but after things quickly escalated! ….
When he first set off on the road on the front he was super wobbly and spent the first few attempts looking back at Ollie but I then grabbed my shoes and a blanket for Jacob and we headed out to get a better view of him.
I was shocked to see just how amazing he was … to say it has been 5 months since he first had his stabilisers taken off and he only had a couple of attempts then … it was shocking to see him just get on and go!
So instead of spending a few minutes having a go, Ollie and Joshua headed off on a proper bike ride down the country lanes!
And I could not be more proud of his determination and for his perseverance!
My little fella can now ride a bike on his own!
