This year I had massively high hopes for the spring/summer months, however with the start of summer being lacking on the sunshine front and instead being packed with rain and cold weather and then sunshine by lunchtime the fluctuating temperatures have had us all confused.
Even if the weather has been variable we have already started enjoying some fantastic adventures from shopping and eating out to our recent garden camp out.
From our recent adventures I have to be honest and say I feel really ashamed that we have not made more of our family time over the last few months but feel now we have finally found our stride.
This week we finally got to put Joshua new GORE-TEX shoes to the test with a park and picnic day with bike riding to boot.
We were sent the GORE-TEX shoes as we are Big Days family ambassadors and these seemed ideal to keep his feet dry from any rain, free from sweat with their breathable material and to keep his toes well and truly covered to protect them while climbing and bike riding!
Summer holidays tend to pass in a blur but this year I have made some lovely friends in my village with little boys in my sons class and instead of dreading the holidays and worrying how to keep Joshua occupied we have planned in lots of ‘play’ dates.
This week was one of our first planned play dates and after packing up a picnic and both boys I headed out with a Jacob in the pushchair and Joshua on his bike to meet the other ladies and their boys.
The morning started being very overcast and I was worried at one point about it raining but thankfully it turned out to be a beautiful day with glorious sunshine.
While I got to chat and talk to new friends, Joshua got to play with his, they climbed anything that stood still for long enough, they rode their bikes like maniacs and they ate food as and when they wanted.
If this is the start of the summer, it’s going to be a totally amazing, with good friends and fresh air and some great friends we really don’t need much else do we … but comfy dry feet help, thanks GORE-TEX for helping our summer holidays start on the right foot.
