The after school tea time is the one time of the day I must admit I dread, I hate the rushing in from school and having to decide who is having what and the grumbles from either my husband or son so this week we were asked to try out the new 2 for £10 main meals from Brewers Fayre lunch menu that runs till 6.30pm and I have to say with this already being one of much-loved go to restaurants on a weekend we had not really considered going for tea up till this point as lets face it to most going out for tea is a treat … however with lack of inspiration, and over use of the takeaway option that is way more than 2 meals for £10 it was certainly worth trying.
Now having looked at the 2 for £10 menu online I have to say I was rather excited at seeing some much favourite family meals on there with 12 of the classic pub meals on offer! my only concern is in the past these kind of meal deals don’t tend to be good value as the potion sizes are effected so was the same going to be said for the ‘great value’ meal options at Brewers Fayre?
On arrival we were once again greeted with the lovely staff we see each and every time we go to Castlewood and we were offered seating near the play area that we had booked or the ability to sit inside the refurbished play area as there were spare tables and with a super eager 4-year-old who adores the Beano themed play area we opted to move tables in the play area.
First on the menu for us was checking out the kids menu which we adore with its 1 course, 2 course or 3 course options and with the 3 courses coming in at £4.99 it was a no brainer for Joshua with his garlic bread starter, hotdog main and doughnuts for pudding he was one super happy boy and with clean plates all round from him I know it was a hit!
For Ollie and I went for the 2 starters for £2.50 option with garlic mushrooms, and then both of us ordered from the 2 for £10 meals, I had beef lasagne and Ollie opted for the Chicken Tikka Masala …. both of which were massive in size so there was certainly no reduced sizes at Castlewood! … pudding wise we both went for the 2 for £2.50 pudding option of Caramel Apple Betty and custard which was AMAZING!!!
We all throughly loved the kids menace meals for the 3 course for £4.99 and the 2 for £2.50 on starters and puddings was great but we really were impressed with the amount of options available on the 2 for £10 meals and even more so on the size of these dishes! …
Add in the refillable soft drink options for drinks and Brewers Fayre certainly made our tea time more tasty and certainly more cost-effective than a standard takeaway and at that we had 3 courses!
