If you have been a regular reader you will know I have in the past reviewed Maxi-Cosi’s i-size compliant extended rear facing car seat and base, 2Way Pearl and 2WayFix Isofix base which means you can keep your child rear facing till approximately 4 years.
However at the time I initially reviewed the 2Way combo Joshua was too old to test out the Baby seat that completes this set the Pebble Plus.
So on finding out we were expecting baby number 3 and loving the 2WayFix base and 2Way Pearl seat I jumped at the chance to try the Pebble Plus to see how that worked as part of the 2Way Family.
Currently the Pebble Plus comes in 7 Colours options in the UK, several of the colours are brand new for 2016 and the new additions to the range (Star, Watercolour Blue, Triangle Flow and Sparkling Grey) add lots of colour and pattern to the more muted tones of last years (Black Raven, Robin Red & Concrete Grey.
We chose the more muted tone of Sparkling Grey and when it arrived we were thrilled as the internet pictures don’t really do it justice.
The seat is obviously grey but there is a really thin speck of lighter grey that run through it that makes it look even nicer in the flesh so to speak.
Having previously used the CabrioFix car seat with Joshua I was really eager to take a look at the newborn insert that this seat comes with instead of just the triangle wedge that the CabrioFix comes with as I did feel it was missing some padding on the sides when we used it with Joshua.
The insert of the Pebble Plus was really easy to take in and out which is great, also the material its made from is super soft and down the sides inside there is some padding (which I hoped there would be) and I have no doubt this will help make baby more snug in the seat but we will double check this once baby arrives!
The 5 point safety harness is super easy to use and it comes with shoulder pads to ensure comfort, the bonus with these are they are removable for washing and are also attached so no slipping down easily!
Adjusting the harness on other baby seats we have used before have tended to be a little tricky having to rethread and things but I was thrilled that in the back of the seat (in the flap) along with the instructions that are in there you will also find 2 grey buttons that you squeeze together that allows you to adjust the harness height up or down as you need it all really easily!
The Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus comes with the sun canopy included and its tucked away in the rim of the seat and to find it there are some loops that you can take hold of and pull out the hood.
It can then be attached to the handle to use the sun canopy and make it nice and sturdy.
Fitting the car seat into the car can be done both with the 2WayFix base (which is an isofix fitting) or by a 3 point car seat belt, however as with any car seat if you have ability to use isofix that is the one you really should opt for as installing manually there is a risk that you have not done it right and therefore it will affect the ability to safely do the job of keeping baby safe.
If you intend to use the 2WayFix base, installation could not be easier, it has a lights and sound fitting alarm. The first green light shows you have correctly installed the base on the isofix brackets, the second green light goes on if you have installed the support leg and the third green light goes on once you have clipped in the seat (either Pebble Plus or 2Way Pearl) correctly. If something is wrong with the base it emits a noise and all 3 lights won’t be green!
I am thrilled to bits with the quality and design of the Pebble Plus and I can’t wait to put it through its paces properly once baby arrives!
