Regular readers will know that we were super excited back in early January when the i-size compliant Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus car seat arrived here for review and that having had the 2Way Pearl seat and 2WayFix base it was going to make this a package from birth to four years, but the questions was did the Pebble Plus meet our expectations?
The Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus is 0-12 months car seat (or Birth – 75cm) that can be fitted into the car with either a standard internal seatbelt or by installing the isofix 2wayfix base which then makes it’s a clip on clip off system which is the method in which we have been reviewing this seat as we have this base.
On my initial post with our first thoughts about the car seat we adored the muted tones of the Sparkling Grey colour way but if Grey is not your colour this seat comes in 6 other colours in the UK, several of the colours are brand new for 2016 and the new additions to the range (Star, Watercolour Blue, Triangle Flow and Sparkling Grey) add lots of colour and pattern to the more muted tones of last years (Black Raven, Robin Red & Concrete Grey.
We have used this seat since our our child was born in early February and so far have been thrilled with it, the internal hugger that you use from newborn is amazing.
Having used the CabrioFix car seat in the past we were thrilled that this internal inlay has been so well thought out on the Pebble Plus as it literally held Jacob firm in the seat with no movement from any part of him so there was no sagging for him as it held him in a perfect position so great for god forbid an accident situation but was also great for peace of mind knowing his spine and head were in a great position.
It can be fitted with a 2WayFix base and if you dont have the base by a standard seat belt too. It has also easily clipped on and off the Maxi-Cosi Mura 3 with the use of the brackets that came with the pushchair making it a travel system too.
Another of my loves has been the easily adjustable harness, on all other seats I personally have used to date they have had some degree of rethreading to adjust them as my child has grown, this one has a function on the back to squeeze the adjuster in the back of the seat and slide the harness up and down to make sure baby has perfectly fitting straps .. That for me was a genius move.
Overall we have loved this car seat and its packed with the high quality you would expect from a Maxi-Cosi car seat, however to keep it real I like to be honest and the only thing we were not sold on was the hood, it seems like it needs another inch of fabric to make it fully useful .. but that’s just my personal opinion.
If you are looking to invest in a car seat solution from birth to 4 years and are wanting something isofix and with extended rear facing capabilities the Maxi-Cosi 2WayFamily should certainly be a consideration.
