My Girlie Christmas Shopping Coach Trip

This weekend I deserted my family in favour of spending some quality time with my bestie.

Stacey and I met when she was my team leader while working in a hospital, however after taking redundancy and Stacey working full-time, quality time for one on one conversation was not as frequent as we both would have liked so a few months ago when Stacey mentioned going for a weekend on a coach trip we both got excited and started planning!

OK maybe not the most exciting trips for some but for us this trip for us marked our first girls weekend since the birth of our children (Joshua and Freya)

So with a plan hatched we counted down the weekends ready for our Christmas shopping weekend in Leeds and York and Scarborough and staying over at the very regal looking hotel in Scarborough – The Grand.
My Girlie Christmas Shopping Coach Trip The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseSaturday after we managed to get safely on the right bus we set off for York. Now both of us having never been a coach trip we kinds of expected to take a while but it really was an epic adventure to get there with more pick-ups and drop off’s than we anticipated.

The Christmas market was not even in York! however with a plan already in place all was not lost as  Stacey and I went to a really gorgeous little place called Lucia Bar & Grill, however what we did find was a parade taking place, which I discovered later was the homecoming for 300 military doctors that returned home from Afghanistan.

Next stop on the Christmas market bus trip was The Grand Hotel.
My Girlie Christmas Shopping Coach Trip The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseHaving visited Scarborough a lot I have always idealised the Grand, let just say at this point the adventure here was one that I will remember and it quite rightly will have its own post.

While there we did go for a walk, we played on the 2p machines, had a drink got lost …  put the world to rights and chatted constantly!

Day 2 was the Christmas market at Leeds, without much shopping we did more chatting than anything else although squeezed in some food, some random conversation and also equally as random lady that was without a doubt rude …. to top it off.
My Girlie Christmas Shopping Coach Trip The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWe chatted about political issues, children and a whole host of topics that we don’t normally get to chat about when we have the children in tow.

At one time our girlie weekends would have involved drinking from the arrival time to the departure. So this trip was a first … although there were a few drinks consumed they were certainly no drunkenness .. only giggles and a headache free morning.

Thanks Stacey … where are we off to next?

How wonderful, I do enjoy a good girlie trip, something about it makes you laugh like a teenager again! I hope this will be the first of many trips away for you both.

That sounds like it was an amazing weekend. Seeing all those doctors coming home from Afghanistan must have been quite something and your days out in Scarborough and Leeds sound quite eventful too. So glad you had such a lovely weekend catching up with your bestie and wine and giggles with no hangover sounds great! 🙂

What a brilliant weekend. I think the best things about those kind of trips is the constant chatter and fixing all the problems of the world! 🙂
