It’s a simple statement and one I shy away from making year in and year out … I HATE PANCAKES
Social media is awash with pancake ideas and stunning stacks of perfectly presentable offerings and all I want to do is hurl.
There are not many foods that make me feel physically like I want to be sick thank god, although maybe if there were I wouldn’t be on a weight loss mission. But pancakes really are my nemesis.
Thankfully Ollie takes over at tea time on Shrove Tuesday.
In our house Ollie makes 2 different pancakes with one of his favourite being Chicken curry! And there tends to be a sweet version to with orange juice and sugar or even syrups. However I still can’t get my head round them, the texture of them feels slimy and sweet nor savoury have ever floated my boat.
As January rolls round to February the thought of pancakes pop up and I just want to run screaming from the room.
Its odd really as essentially pancake and Yorkshire pudding mix is the same but made thicker for Yorkshires and I love Yorkshire puddings with lashings of thick gravy and preferably with a roastie or two on the side! But pancakes really are revolting.
Over the years I have attempted to try them with new things every time, ham and cheese, cream and fruit, ice-cream, sugar, lemon, orange and even jam but nothing has ever changed I want to gag.
So tell me people what the hell can I eat instead on Shrove Tuesday? I am going nowhere near the pancake batter so I need some inspiration as for 4 year of my life I am not even going to attempt to try one, I am going to cook something else or order in a takeaway.
Pancakes really over overrated!
What will you be eating?
