I was recently tagged by another blogger … the lovely Kate from Kate on Thin Ice in her meme rounding up her 2013 with the highs and lows for her and her family and I really thought this would be a lovely way to positively reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly of our year.
Here it is my 2013:
1. What was your happiest event?
There were 3 really amazing events that took place for us/me this year firstly our holiday to Marina Parc Hotel Arenal d’en Castell in Menorca that was our first time abroad as a family and it is also where were celebrated our first Wedding anniversary. Although an amazing trip it was were we also thanks Ollies Grandma Betty as the trip was paid for when she passed away so it was sad and happy!
Secondly there was the amazing trip we won to the San Lucianu Beach Resort in Corsica from Mark Warner for taking part in a bloggers challenge to motivate others to be healthy, this saw the birth of my Active Family linky and also saw us unite as a family both before and after the holiday, changing our perception on having fun.
It is now something we try and live by, and constantly try new things
The third momentous event for me has to be attending Britmum Live 2013 .. I was absolutely terrified, but having attended and got to meet so many of my blogging friends in the flesh and build on friendships further it really was such an amazingly emotional time …… watch out Vicky, Charly and Afra ……. your not getting rid of me that easily!
Of the the saddest things to happen this year was the passing away of Ollie’s final grandparent, Grandma Joan we celebrated her 90th birthday in November 2012 and then within weeks she had sadly passed away early in 2013.
3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?
Please refer to Number 1 – we won an amazing holiday and I finally got to Britmums Live after being sponsored by the amazing people at TheBabyWebsite.com and that my nerves subsided enough to get me there!
4. Who let you down?
This year I can happily say that no one let me down as I have been far more selective over the people I have spent my time with this year. There have been of course those folk that to be fair only let themselves down but their negativeness has not effected me ….. bonus!
5. Who supported you?
My Husband really has been my rock this year, I don’t think neither him nor I fully understood the way blogging would become part of our family, the way in which it would develop me as a person or how much hard work would of been needed to keep going at times.
Also our amazingly supportive families have been a god send, we have been blessed with such amazing families that I cant thank enough for their help this year.
6. Tell us what you learned
That amazing and incredible things do sometimes happen
That friends can make your world turn a whole lot easier
I am a strong independent person that can do more than I first thought!
That asking for help does not make me a weak person
7. Tell us what made you laugh
Seeing Joshua grow from a baby to a full blown vocalised toddler has by far been the funniest thing we have experienced this year. His continued growth has made for such funny moments in our life, from issues with Fruit Cocktail to his amazing Christmas list
8. Tell us the things that made you cry
My continued pain from the SPD that has now been part of my life for 3 1/2 years.
Realising that my relationship with Bethany is still not where it should be, however this is not something I have really blogged about.
Seeing the Consultant and realising that 2014 will hold an operation for me
9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud
Also my daughter facing her fears and going back to school after being bullied, also for her admitting she needed help with processing her feelings and that she was struggling, this was by far the bravest thing she could of ever done and so vocalising it makes me so proud of her.
Other than the previously mentioned – Britmums Live there were several things I have felt super proud of myself with.
Returning to play hockey after my first very shaky season after 17 years off!
Stopping smoking in October even if I then put on 1.5 stones of weight back on!
Trying out new activities even if I wanted to cry!
11. Tell us the challenges you overcame
I began to realise that although overweight that would not control every aspect of my life and that only I can make the changes for a healthier and fitter life …. this still continues
12. Tell us the things you would like to change about your life in 2014
To finish my college course
To lose more weight and get fitter
To continue to be a non smoker
To see if my blogging journey will lead me further and develop maybe into a job
To spend more time with my husband on our own … date nights here we come!
To challenge myself further
To maybe see baby number 3 on the way … well you never know!
So what has 2013 been like for you?
