For regular readers it will come as no surprise that I am up in the early hours of the morning, babies certainly do favour those dark mornings and once awake with Jacob I have struggled getting to sleep, instead favouring some me time viewing with the help of my iPad mini, which is due to get an upgrade.
In light of all this online viewing I have discovered some really fabulous boxsets on Netflix and also some really great films too so thought I would share them with you incase you are looking for some inspiration on what to watch.
First on my list is a box set I discovered while still pregnant, Reign is a fictionalised period drama had me hooked by episode 2 of series 1 and continued to have me hooked into series 3.
Its based on Mary Queen of Scots early years and story starts in 1557 with Mary living in France waiting for her marriage to Prince Francis who she has been betrothed to since the age of 6.
Throughout the 3 series so far Mary has to contend with politics and egos and power play from outsiders and also from those close to her.
Although I am not normally a period drama lover there was something about this one that had me gripped!
2. The Vampire Diaries
I am super late to the party with this one as I have only just discovered this with 6 seasons under its belt and an easy to follow story line it has made for perfect 3am night feed viewing, if you nod and miss 5 minutes you can easily pick it back up again without having to start an episode again.
Based on a best selling book series The Vampire Diaries is the story of two vampire brothers, obsessed with the same girl, who are battling to control the fate of an entire town while also battling each other its got plenty of twists and turns but for me I thought it was a little cheesy round the edges but in a good way.
3. The Good Wife
Well, this beauty has had not only me hooked but also hubs too, those first few weeks after Jacobs arrival this fantastically obsessive box set arrived into our lives and we have pretty much watched them back to back since …. in fact this Programme even got us through those first few weeks where sleep really was a long lost relative that non of us saw anymore.
If you have missed The Good Wife its based around the life of disgraced politician’s wife Alicia Florrick who after public humiliation of her husbands affair and corruption that lands him in jail resumes her career as a defense attorney and making her own way in her own right.
4. Z Nation
If you are looking for some cheesy/easy viewing then Z Nation storyline is based on a post apocalyptic time and this horror/comedy will have you eye rolling and jumping through the night feed and will certainly keep you awake.
I am currently almost at the end of the first series and planning on viewing the next as soon as I can. For me I love a box set or film with some gore but also not something that will get my grey matter firing on all cylinders too late at night as lets face it, who wants nightmares?
This box set has gore but no real brain teasers, the plot plods through the story of everyday folks as they escort the only known person that survived a Zombie bite from New York to California to a viral lab so it can use his blood to create a potion to save the rest of the world …
Cheesy certainly, but for me in those dark early morning hours alone it has been great to catch up with some super viewing.
I would love to know what you guys have streaming and what shows you are currently watching …
